Tarka House which stands in it's own grounds by the Village green in the peaceful village of Bolton, Nr. Appleby, was once the old school. Now it has been tastefully transformed into a very comfortable house entirely for the use of B&B guests.
Here at Tarka House, we like to make your holiday as comfortable as possible and so provide a few extras, upstairs each of the three double bedrooms are on suite and include paper tissues and hair dryers for the ladies, TV (so that sports programmes etc won't be missed) and Tea and Coffee facilities. There is also a dining room and a spacious sitting room with colour TV and an open fire.
You will find we like to provide a good cooked breakfast in the dining room where we have a menu for Dinner should you be tempted to return for a substantial and interesting dinner after a hard days holidaying.
Tarka House is ideally situated for walkers, golfers and cyclists and has the advantage of being only one mile off the A66, 4 miles from Appleby and only 9 miles away from Penrith and the M6 so is in easy reach of the Lakes and surrounding countryside. Many find Tarka House an excellent half way stop if going north or south.
Ullswater, which many people consider to be one of the most unspoilt and attractive lakes, is within easy reach and once explored, will almost certainly make you want to return again and again.
We aim to please and hope you will return to Tarka House in this lovely part of England!
